The Home Show with Ken Patterson first aired as a one hour pilot episode on WSVA Radio in Harrisonburg, Virginia in June, 2007. The audience response was "off the charts".

Station morning anchor Jim Britt and Ken managed to have some fun, and Ken is an unending source of stories drawn from a thirty-five year career in the building industry, but the show's design formula is simplicity itself. Listeners call in with any question they like about home repair, home remodelling, building, buying or selling. Usually, Ken is able to answer them immediately, or he can point the listener in the right direction.

The show was immediately expanded to its current two hour format and, in July 2007, became a permanent monthly feature on the station's Middays lineup.

This was no small achievement. WSVA is one of the oldest continuosly operating radio stations in America and is consistently ranked in the top five among AM stations in the country for per capita morning audience share.

A popular feature of the show is the Listener Mailbag; questions received via e-mail and read on the air. Sometimes listeners call in with the answers to other listener's questions. The knowledge displayed by the show's audience is often amazing.
